The Buraidah International Dates Carnival is considered one of the largest economic, cultural and community events in the Kingdom, which aims to enhance economic mobility and the marketing of dates in the city of Buraidah and the Qassim region and contribute to enhancing the Kingdom’s exports, in line with the goals of Vision 2030 to make the Kingdom one of the largest producers and exporters of dates in the world, and to enhance the city’s tourist attraction. Contributing to the sustainable development plan according to the three axes of the vision (a vibrant society, a prosperous economy, and an ambitious nation).
The Buraidah International Dates Carnival is considered one of the first festivals in the city of Buraidah, as its first edition was launched more than twenty years ago. It has become an international economic carnival that receives the production of approximately 11 million palm trees, with sales exceeding two billion riyals ($800 million) and including more than 45 varieties of the finest types. Dates, which is held annually in the City of Dates in Buraidah at the beginning of August of each year, which is considered the season for harvesting dates and lasts for three monthس, and includes an international auction of the finest types of dates, the most prominent of which are (Sukkari, Al-Saqi, Al-Khalas, Al-Barhi, Al-Wanana, Al-Shaqra...) And other types of dates. This carnival also includes economic and cultural activities, popular heritage, as well as entertainment programs.
This carnival is considered a local and international tourist destination. It has enhanced the business tourism path with its economic activity, tourism events and programmes. This carnival also provides seasonal job opportunities for young men and women from the city of Buraidah, which has made it a major supporter in the sustainable development plans for the creative Buraidah.
